Curved By Design Inc. is unique in our ability to supply the market with monolithic, wooden dome or curved panel products that provide elegance and beauty in a seamless union with function and practicality.  Our primary products are:

  • small garden or backyard domes, approximately 100 sf in floor area
  • cottages and guest houses for recreational and tourist properties.
Garden and Backyard Domes

The small garden or backyard dome can serve a variety of purposes, i.e. as a small guest room, an office, a sauna, a play area for children, a music studio, a meditation or yoga space, etc.Spectacular Garden Dome

It is approximately 12 feet in diameter, provides 100 square feet of floor space and can be built on a small stem wall to provide additional height. The advantage of this size dome is that it falls under the building permit requirements and yet provides a spacious and calm ambience.
 
Custom Homes

Designs are unique and may be based on a dome or a variation of a dome, and may feature an integration of Curved By Design Inc.’s modular curved products with conventional stick-frame, post & beam, steel, concrete, or log structures.

Large open span areas can be created as is often desired in modern architecture. Interior layouts can be configured to provide flat wall partitions to accommodate cupboard and storage areas. Exterior finishing can be designed to adapt to a rural or urban environment.
 
Basic Utility Domes

Examples of end uses may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Agricultural storage
  • Government storage
  • Transportation shelters
  • Park shelters
  • Outdoor storage

Designs will be according to customer specifications. The basic finished product will consist of a dome, sheathed with OSB and shingled with very little additional structure or sub-trade requirements.

The structure can be a complete open span interior as no truss or interior load bearing walls are required. This allows complete adaptability to the end use purpose and functionality of the structure.

 
 
Cottages and Guest Houses

We offer quaint and cozy cottages for recreational properties, guest houses, and smaller homes that start at a minimum of 500 square feet of floor area.  Examples include:

  • Lakeside cottages
  • Bed & Breakfasts
  • Lodges and motels
  • Guest houses for urban or rural settings
 
Multi-Purpose Domes

Examples of end uses may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Spiritual Centers
  • Community Centers
  • Tourist centers
  • Schools and day care centers
  • Kiosks
  • Workshops
  • Special purpose agricultural buildings
  • Horse shelters, paddocks, rings
  • Animal shelters
  • Emergency shelters

Designs may be complete domes or interfaced with conventional stick frame structures. They will be customized to adhere to the “form-follows-function” principle.

These structures can have a complete open span interior as no truss or interior load bearing walls are required. This allows complete adaptability to the end use purpose and functionality of the building.
 
Caps, Gazebos and “Bay-Walls”

Examples of end uses may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • gazebos
  • roofs or covers on conventional stick frame buildings
  • band-shells
  • “Bay-Walls” – an exterior wall alternative for conventional stick buildings that incorporate not only a bay window, but also an entire curved “bay wall” or portion of a dome.

Designs are initially customized to the customers’ requests and specifications.
